Historically, the Ford Bronco was a multipurpose vehicle introduced as a competitor to the largely successful Jeep CJ-5 and the lesser known International Harvester Scout. The idea of the Bronco was dreamt up by Donald Frey, an original contributor to the first Mustang development team, and was pushed into production by Lee Iacocca. The Ford Bronco stormed onto the scene in 1965 and still carries a huge enthusiast base to this day. The Bronco was very novel in the sense that it didn’t share a single frame or body component with any of the other Ford vehicles of its time. The Bronco would eventually run through five generations and 30 years of success before being shelved in 1996. The Bronco is scheduled to be reintroduced in 2021.
